Welcome to MASCOT Decision-Support Tool

New to MASCOT or the MASCOT Decision-Support Tool?

If this is the first time you visit this website, please download our Handbook PDF, it includes detailed instructions on how to use the site and what can you find in it.

Also, you can find more information about the MASCOT project in the MASCOT Website.

If you just need information of what is included in the databases, you can find a summary in Decision-Support Tool Components and Objectives and MCH Inequalities Indicators.

Inequalities and vulnerable groups' health, as well as the slow advances to achieve the health-related Millennium Development Goals, are concerns that need to be addressed, notably for low and middle-income countries. While some countries have made advances, these remain unknown to other ones which could still benefit from their experience. Higher collaboration could help but is quite difficult to achieve. The MASCOT project gathers therefore 11 partners from 3 geographical areas (Europe, Latin America & Africa), an advisory board and additional relevant experts to answer this problematic.

A decision-support tool has been put in place to help researchers and people all around the globe identify the status of Health Inequalities for the following countries: Ghana, Guinea Bissau, Malawi, Mozambique, Tunisia, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Mexico.

The following countries are not included in the platform: Tanzania, South Africa and Brazil. The information about the MCH inequalities are presented in the strategy briefs available at www.mascotfp7.eu

This database has data and information of different nature. For better understanding, please click on Concepts & Methods in the top menu and after reading it, you can go to Decision-Support Tools to access each one of the database components.

MASCOT Decision-Support Tool now running on DevInfo!

After an evaluation of the Business Intelligence tool used to generate the reports for the MASCOT Data Repository, the MASCOT team has decided to migrate it's system to the DevInfo Platform. With the support of the United Nations Development Group (UNDG), DevInfo became the ideal candidate to host MASCOT project's set of data.

DevInfo is a powerful database system for monitoring human development. It is a tool for organizing, storing and presenting data in a uniform way to facilitate data sharing at the country level across government departments, UN agencies and development partners. DevInfo has features that produce tables, graphs and maps for inclusion in reports, presentations and advocacy materials. If you want to know more about DevInfo CLICK HERE.
